CPACE Philippines and Western Leyte College, signing MOA

CPACE Philippines, WLC Partner to Future-Proof Financial Mgmt Curriculum

The CPACE Philippines has officially signed an agreement with the Western Leyte College, Ormoc City, on Monday, Nov. 17, as part of its commitment to support colleges and universities in producing future-ready certified professionals.

According to CPACE Philippines president and managing director Jan Emille Tena, the partnership seeks to bolster its “industry-academia partnership” with tertiary level schools to provide them with curricular offerings that would better prepare students to the workforce.

“This landmark MOA cements our commitment to continuing education and professional advancement for Western Leyte College students and faculty across several key fields,” said Tena in a press briefing at the WLC’s president’s room.

The Memorandum of Agreement was signed following the Certified Financial Management Specialist (CFMS)® assessment examination, a registered trademark by the company under the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines.

117 graduating Financial Management students from the University took the pen-and-paper exam on Monday, Nov. 17.

Humphrey P. Bugtay, one of the exam takers, said the CFMS exam girds them up to become future finance specialists, noting how it “opens doors and gives us an edge in employment.”

“I really prepared for the CFMS examination—and I’m glad I did. My preparation gave me the confidence that I would pass but it was also challenging and really difficult. The exam questions [were] closely aligned with our Financial Management curriculum. Because of that, we were competitively prepared for the assessment,” he said.

The memorandum of agreement was signed by CPACE Philippines president and managing director Jan Emille Tena, director for partnerships Jefferson Sejalvo, and program coordinator Luz Angelica Natino.

Western Leyte College Human Resource officer Nyl John Genobiagon, BSBA and BS Entrepreneurship program coordinator John Alexander Codilla, and Accountancy and Business Dean Manolito Edano also signed the program.
